For Senior Victoria Scalanga, interning at KPMG was like coming home.
Ever since she was young, Victoria would spend much of her time going to KPMG, one of the Big Four accounting firms and watch her father work. In doing this, her knowledge and appreciation for the company grew as well. As she got older and developed her own career interests, she realized that marketing was her true passion. She relayed this information to her father and he suggested that she apply to one of KPMG's marketing internships. She did just that and scored an internship! Did you know that the firm sent their interns to Florida for training?
According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of marketing is the act or process of selling or purchasing in a market as well as the process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service. Where did Victoria fall into this? Content creation. "I was an intern under the Content Creation team within the firm’s Clients & Markets department. Through this internship, I had the opportunity to research, write and edit different written pieces for KPMG", she said.
Being tasked with creating content for one of the biggest accounting firms in the country definitely presented its challenges but with a level head and certainty in her ability, she was able to do it. Of her experience, Victoria said, "I have learned to be more confident in a professional setting, network with other interns and employees, and continue to ask questions to learn the most possible." We are so proud of Victoria and her continued success!
Victoria Scalanga is a Senior Marketing Major and is expected to graduate December 2019. Feel free to reach her at vscalanga@gmail.com
